eight is great

For those of you who don't know, eight is my favorite number, and for this reason alone, I think the new year is going to be a good one.

My horoscope this morning said:

A Good Year

It's a new year, sarah! At the start of 2008 you know intuitively that it will be a good year for you. You can't wait to put into motion all your new plans, hopes, and dreams for your life. Of course, just because you're revved up and ready to blaze into the future doesn't mean you don't still have to deal with present challenges.

Kind of sums up my gut feeling. But then again, I remind myself, it's just a number.

because it's no fun doing it alone

'Tis the season...

I remember when I used to be able to fill the entire tank of my bright red V8 Chevy Camaro with $20.

Today I barely got half a tank with $20. Times they-a-change. I had a dream last week that it cost $88 to fill up my car. Now that's a scary thought.

I'll fill Vanna (my car) up all the way on Friday. Friday is payday. It'll be grocery day as well. Things are a little tight; we've been having fun getting stuff for those we love, and a couple special things for our selves, one of which we've been saving for for a very long time. How long is a very long time? Well, okay, we're not talking multiple years, but we are talking a full year.

And as for the title, I just wanted to thank those of you who keep on keeping on, blogging and visiting and all that stuff. Because, as it says above, it's no fun doing it alone.

quality, not quantity

A few years ago my mom told me something I'll never forget. During a moment when it was just the two of us together, she turned to me and said, if she could do it all over again, she wouldn't have had children.

For the longest time this has played over and over in my head, and I have not been able to help but feel a little hurt.

But I recently stumbled upon a realization, after replaying it in my head for the zillionth time.

It wasn't about me, my quality or worth.

It was about her.

I think it was her way of kind of saying sorry.
