caught up, still behind

So I caught up on sleep shortly after I posted last. I have probably fallen behind and caught up once again since that time as well. It's an ongoing cycle.

No... I am not pregnant.

Got my hands quite full enough at the moment, thank you.

In current events

1) Aloha! Shot out to Z. Thank you so much for the Hawaii quarter (my collection is complete!) and the gorgeous card (fancy art collection you've got!)
2) E turned two. Two! Can you believe it? I can't. My baby boy isn't a baby anymore!
3) And here's to all the birthday girls this month: Holly-hoo, Zilla, and Ange!!

Also, for the first time since we moved here, I won the One Cup of Java Challenge on our local community radio. Oh yeah! Wooo! So, what is it, you ask? It's a bit of trivia thrown out to listeners every morning around 8:20ish. First caller to call in with the correct answer wins a prize (which are usually tickets to local music shows or your choice of a station shirt or CD).

On top of it all, the category of trivia I won was perhaps the must unlikely of categories for me to win. It was presidential trivia. Go figure! (I'm the farthest possible thing from a history buff.) The question was this: What trait does Obama have, that past presidents such as Clinton, the first Bush, Reagan, Ford, Truman, etc. had as well? It occurs in presidents twice as often as the regular population.

Answer: Left-handedness!

Now I'm sporting my prize T-shirt with a big cheesy smile on my face.

Well, as it goes, so long as I'm caught up on sleep, I'm still behind with other stuff; it's never ending. So I'm bidding adieu to go do other things now. It's already taken me over 24 hours to type out this brief post (not consecutively, silly); a testament to ever-changing demands on my attention over here. E's birthday party is this weekend so I really need to first and foremost get this hechtic house in order.

Happy cleaning. Pfft.

sleeping booty

Exhausted. Nothing short of exhuasted, I've been.

I seem to accumulate, slowly and surely, a sleep deficit now and again. Aware of this, on Wednesday night, I made sure to be in bed by 8:30 p.m. I hoped an extra hour might restore me. But it wasn't enough. So last night, a night I had a run planned for myself, I fell asleep before the kids did and heeded the obvious signal; I went to bed right after the kids did, at 7:00 p.m. No run. No catching the wind in my hair. Just catching Z's.

Today I still feel off, but that might be because I went to bed so early. I'm just hoping I don't feel so downright grumbly and exhausted as I have these past four or five days. Everything feels harder when your tired. Not to mention, I don't know about you, but lots of stupid mistakes happen.

Dropping things. Missing a turn while driving in the car. Forgetting to make a payment that you know is due at the beginning of every month. Not being able to remember events from the previous day. Not being able to remember if you fed the dogs. Stubbing your toe. Calling your kids by the wrong name. Not being able to make simple decisions. Ah, the side effects of lack of sleep.

So since I didn't run last night I'll run tonight. But it will have to be an easy run, because I have crossfit in the morning tomorrow, and that always beats the crap out of me.

partially paralyzed

I feel a bit paralyzed today.

There are things to do. It's not like there is nothing to do. I just don't have the oomph to do them.

Perhaps because I'm so cold.
And a bit sore, to boot.
But I think it's mostly because I'm cold.

And every time our golden retriever walks by, whooshing her big golden tail like a palm fan, I get shivers and hiss at her under my breath.

Maybe it isn't the cold. Maybe it's hormonal.

Oh, who knows. Does it even really matter any way?

*The kids are squabbling. I got to come up with something structured over here.
I should start with washing my hair. Ugh. Maybe it is the sore muscles after all.
