sometimes time

sometimes time stands still
sometimes time slips by
sometimes time works against me
sometimes time is my ally

happy mother's day

An assuring Mother's Day message from Astrocenter Weekly:

Help and support for your plans will come from a variety of people, sarah. The minute you realize that you need to get something done, the right people will show up. You seem to get a lot of help by just asking and by being willing to reach out and talk to anyone and everyone about your current needs. You will also serve as a source of inspiration for others, who come to you for a fresh perspective on their issues. If you work in the media, write, or teach for a living, you will have a good week with plenty of progress. Getting an advertising campaign off the ground will also work wonders for you as you should get a good response. Mars has just moved into your work and health zone and is encouraging you to be more competitive on all fronts. If your health schedule has fallen by the wayside, this is a great opportunity to get it back on track. Your enthusiasm will enable you to make a new start. At work, you are keen to get things moving and may act as the catalyst that spurs other co-workers into action. Your love life is quiet, but your social life will save the day.

Sometimes I think they are spying on me to figure out
exactly what it is I want to hear.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas out there.

age of asparagus

I was cooking dinner last night, which involved asparagus, and suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, this song permeated my thoughts and wouldn't leave.

The song:

hurray for holly and ivy!

That last post was a very foul note to leave off on for several days. Sorry 'bout that folks. I don't know what got into me. I guess it was just stuff I've had on the brain for a while and wanted to typographically vomit into the blogosphere. I'm not so good at verbal vomit and typing seems to be a much easier platform for me to do so.

So, I heard word that someone veeeerrry special came along recently.
(Thank you Becky for being such a sweetheart and stopping by to leave a comment on my vulgar post informing me of the incredibly precious news.)
CONGRATULATIONS HOLLY!!!

I'm off to steal every picture of Ivy and can possibly find now.
Wishing you minimal ouchiness, next-to-nil itchiness, and record-breaking consecutive sleep.
All my love, love!

television gripe

So saying ASS is okay but when ASS HOLE is said the HOLE is bleeped out. Hello?!! Isn't ASS the worse of the two?

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot. Ass is that cute little horse-like creature, not that round rear human cleavage that seems to be the butt of so many jokes.

ASS = DONKEY

Same wit DAMN. DAMN is okay but when it is GOD DAMN the GOD is bleeped out. Apparently GOD is more foul than DAMN.

GOD = not appropriate

Why is it PUSSY is allowed but DICK isn't? When people call others a PUSSY are they referring to the cat or the female you-know-what? Which came first? And because if it is the latter of the two then I don't understand why PUSSY is allowed and DICK isn't. Unless DICK is referring specifically to the name of a certain individual.

PUSSY = CAT

BITCH. It's everywhere. I really hate it. It has an obviously different applied meaning than what Meriam Webster states. Get with the program and update the definitions. Otherwise, so long as...

BITCH = FEMALE DOG

these words are going to be littered everywhere like they're no big f-cking deal. And it makes me feel like the oversensitive prude of the world.

The FCC and dictionary need to engage in some SERIOUS discourse regarding profanity and meaning.

And, if you ask me, DOUCHE BAG is just f-cked up. Vaginas aren't inherently dirty and I don't even know why the damn things were ever invented. Probably because medicine was a male dominated field for so long and the misconception that vaginas are dirty by nature was a common and idiotic belief. As far as I know, a vagina is no different than an eyeball. Self cleaning. No douche bag required. Do you want your eyeball to smell like spring lilac? I didn't think so. How about your penis? Yeah, f-ck off.

more recent eye-catchers

Mercury Polllution linked to Autism
(Yet injecting it - minuscule amounts as it may be - into the human body is harmless.... pffft.)

Bullying Linked to Future Depression
(Well, that explains a lot!)

Father of LSD takes final trip
(I sure hope that when I leave this earth I will have left behind something important.)

Brooklyn Museum: MURAKAMI
(If only I could still just hop a train....)

And lastly, a poem I read recently that I enjoyed:

Birth Poem

Amidst a phalanx of machinery
blinking green lights
blood pressure cuffs
IVs and needles
efficient squeaky shoes

Me: a glowing, sweating, super-charged galaxy
a portal, opening to admit
one new body,
freshly made
into this world.

I draw on every strength I have ever possessed and
push my insides out
down out down out

And then you are in my arms!
Slippery, red, angry—
a stranger to my eyes, yet
the indomitable spirit
I have come to know so well.

When you are cut free I get my body back but
a body changed,
once a supernova
part of me dying
new life dawning

Now a proof to the power of my own body to birth
unaided by those blinking green lights
held by your father, the doula, the midwife,
you and me—
you and me.
