A Mile, Revisited

I wrote about a month ago about walking (and even hopefully starting running) again. I also mentioned the logistical situation of our new residence.  No sidewalks and in the middle of nowhere. While I haven’t walked every day, and I’m not even sure if I’ve walked every other day, I have been walking. And today I did something for the first time since the summer of 2016: I ran. A mile.

FullSizeRender I can tell you right now I am already so sick and tired of walking on our street. While my walks seemed like fun escapes and adventures into the world before, they now feel monotonous, lackluster like chore-like. There is no excitement, variety or interaction. There’s no library, coffee shop, canal. There’s nothing but suburban homes. And cul de sacs.

What drives me crazy is the houses on the market right now are  what I was searching frantically for last year. I feel there is a better variety with better locations – a lot in neighborhoods I was specifically keeping my eye on. I can’t begin to tell you how upset I am with myself for having these feelings. We are in a gorgeous home in a great town and I can’t let go of being – dissatisfied with our location. I’m an ungrateful jerk. What is wrong with me?

I need to get the hell over it. Or start getting in the car to drive to go take a walk. But is it me, or is that just ridiculous? To drive to go somewhere to walk? I really wish we had found a house close to the canal and/or village. A mile, or more, would be so much more fulfilling. I’m sick of being bothered by this. How do I get over it and move on?
